Our next train will take us to Copenhagen for two nights. From there we will travel to Oslo again for two nights. The last leg of this section will be to Bergen for one night and then we will board our boat.

Intrepid Explorers

Well, our trip is fast approaching and Mark tells me we need to share some more information, here we go…

Our friends Terry and Jenny are flying in from Australia to join us on a Norwegian coastal cruise with Hurtigruten. They haven’t traveled in continental Europe before so we thought we would take the chance to see a bit of it together rather than just flying over it to reach our embarkation point in Bergen.

Now we live in West Cornwall every trip begins with a journey ‘up country’. This time we are catching the GWR night sleeper from Penzance to Paddington leaving on 18 September. We will meet Terry and Jenny at St Pancras ahead of our mid morning departure on Eurostar. We haven’t seen them since 2018 (Skype doesn’t count) so we will have a lot of catching up to do as we pass under the Channel.

Our railway journey has been organized by Byway, a travel agency specialising flight free travel. They have some wonderful itineraries which we hope to experience in the future but this time they have arranged a bespoke trip to take us to Bergen. Our first stop will be in Amsterdam where we will spend two nights then onwards to Hamburg (one night), Copenhagen (two nights), Oslo (two nights) and finally to Bergen to join the MS Nordkapp on 27 September.

We are really looking forward to the journey and to sharing some highlights with you along the way.

Rest Day’ish

Our last full day in Kissimmee. Max really wanted to do the Pandora – The World Of Avatar ride but all week it had queue times of 90 minutes or more. I had found out that the parks were opening an hour earlier due to the Labor Day Holiday so a plan was formed,  Mark would take the kids early to get on the ride, before the crowds and then go to Typhoon Lagoon water park. They would return for lunch and a rest before we all returned in the evening to see some fireworks.
