We have now settled in to our new basecamp in Dorset and are finalising the details for the early stages of our world trip. As with any major project it is always good practice to undertake a trial run to shake out any issues that might arise; so we are taking two trips over the next few weeks, one to Spain and one to Cornwall.
Today was round 2 of our inoculations. it was the second rabies jab, so we still have to have one more of these. We now have 3 weeks off before the next round!
Today we went into Cambridge to see what health issues we should be thinking about. We went to the MASTA travel clinic in Hills Road. It started with a 20 minute discussion with the specialist nurse about our trip and where / how long we would be staying in each country.
We then followed her advice about what we should be protecting ourselves against. So today we had inoculations for Rabies, Japanese Encephalitis and Hepatitis B. We also got a course of tablets to fight Malaria.
We now wait a week before we go back for the next phase; it’s beginning to feel real!
We have now taken another big step in our plans, we have sold our house subject to contract. It looks like we will be moving out by the end of March 2016. This will be a strange feeling as we have been here 23 years, we will also be homeless!
PS This is the first post written on our new computer!
Well 2016 has arrived and after a quiet period in Nov / Dec we are up and running again. We have now got our suitcases for the trip, one each, so we know the limit we can take with us. We have also updated our phones as contract was up for renewal in Dec.
Kim came up with a good idea to have a second travel camera and we have gone with a Nikon AW 130 which will allow us to do shots in more challenging environments, i.e. water! Finally we have just changed to one computer, a Microsoft Surface Pro 4, to be our IT base.
